The art of Flamenco

Nanako Aramaki started dancing at a young age. Her background in ballet as well as piano has helped her flourish in the art of flamenco at Centro Flamenco.

In 2001, Nanako made her professional dancing debut with Flamenco Rosario and her solo debut in 2003. With Flamenco Rosario, Nanako has performed throughout the Lower Mainland, Vernon, and Salt Spring Island. Nanako is very eager to teach and share her passion for flamenco at Centro Flamenco and with Flamenco Rosario.

Nanako with Flamenco Rosario would be presenting the premiere of “Mis Hermanas Thicker than Water: My Sisters and I” from April 29 – May 3, 2008 at the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre.

There will also be a free “open rehearsal” on Tuesday, April 29 at 11 am at the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre, Performance Centre.  This will provide the audience with a unique opportunity to view the creative process.

Flamenco Rosario’s most ambitious project to date, tied to contemporary Mexican, Spanish and Canadian Culture.

Mis Hermanas tells the personal story and recalls the memories of Rosario Ancer growing up in Mexico, her dreams of becoming a dancer, her journey to Spain and her arrival to Vancouver, Canada.
