Vancouver International Children's Festival

The 2008 Vancouver International Children’s Festival runs May 12 - 19 at Vanier Park, jam-packed with music, theatre, dance, storytelling, puppetry, circus arts and much more.

This year’s festival puts a cultural spotlight on Korea. The colourful swirl of costumes, dance and rhythms make for a wonder-filled cultural celebration. In honour of Asian Heritage Month throughout North America, experience the dynamic sights and sounds of Spectacular Korea. Renowned for their fluid elegance and exquisite beauty, Korean dance and rhythms are inspired by thousands of years of history.

The acclaimed Vancouver Korean Dance Society will perform a selection of breathtaking dances that feature stunning silk costumes, skillful use of fans and swords, and masterful choreography.

The Korean Music Academy of Vancouver will sweep you away to the "Land of the Morning Calm" with folk melodies and the resonating sounds of unique Korean instruments.

There will be music from Connie Kaldor, Linda Tillery and the Cultural Heritage Choir, and Sam’s Rot’n Pot’n Pan Band, as well as theatre shows and a premiere performance by Vancouver’s own Theatre Bagger.

Comedy from Quebec’s Theatre de L’Aubergine, Britain’s James Campbell, and the return of Big Nazo are also included.
