New Farmers' market now open in Surrey

By Maheen Nusrat

Farmers’ Markets give the public the opportunity to buy fresh, quality, seasonal, local foods and other products such as plants, from local farmers and producers. You can find vegetables, fruit, meat, dairy products, plants, flowers, chutney, honey, fish, wine, cider, and much more.

Surrey now has its very own Farmer’s Market to enjoy. It is open Wednesdays from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., until October 8.

Farmer’s markets are a great way to support the local economy while being environmentally friendly.

You can ask the farmers questions about the food or products they are selling, such as how its grown, where its grown and what chemicals, if any, are used.

The stallholders are directly involved in the production process so they can answer these questions and more.

The collaborative effort is organized by the Whalley Community Association, with the support of Vancity, the City of Surrey and the Downtown Surrey BIA.

Vendors who grow, raise, create or make the items are welcome to download the guidelines and regulations, as well as an application for food growers, producers and artisans at:
