Restaurant Review: Qoo Cafe

We ordered the Rosemary Lamb Chops and Chicken Nuggets. The lamb was not over-marinated; however, could have had more char. The nuggets were dusted with togarashi, which gave some spiciness to it. The batter was slightly thick, but crunchy.
We also had the Stir-Fried Prawns with chili and garlic. The prawns were slightly overdone, but had wonderful flavours. We tried the Chicken with Abalone Sauce. The chicken was tender and moist for free-range. It was seasoned enough.
We had the Curry Lamb and Ox Tongue Spaghetti which was creamy, but not too spicy. With the large amount of tomatoes, it tasted more like tomato beef. The tongue was tender and the spaghetti, not overdone.
The Baked Pork Chop Rice came with nearly the same tomato sauce as the spaghetti dish. It could have had more ketchupiness. Surprisingly the House Special Lobster with Rice Cake’s lobster was good. The rice cake was bit greasy.
We got the Stir-Fried Rice Noodle with Beef in Fine Shrimp Sauce, which didn’t have much shrimp nor other flavours. We also got the Thai Style Grilled Chicken Rice, which arrived smoking hot. It had some caramelization and nuttiness flavours.
Of the Mix & Match Specials, we had Charbroiled NY Steak and Chicken Steak with black pepper sauce. The steak was almost medium-rare. The chicken steak (deboned leg) was juicy and succulent with crispy skin. We also had the Pork Chop and Beef Short Ribs with mushroom sauce dish. The pork chop had a crispy sear. The short ribs were marinated enough, but the mushroom sauce was too thick. The portions are generous; the execution is pretty consistent. Flavours could've been more tight.

QOO CAFE
7994 Granville Street, Vancouver, BC

The Good:
• Large portion sizes
• Proteins were more or less on point
• Okay pricing

The Bad:
• Flavours could be more refined
• Menu could be more focused as it tries to cover too many bases
