Restaurant Review: Craft Beer Market

To start, we split an order of the Yellow Curry Steamed Mussels featuring Ocean Wise mussels in a tumeric, lemongrass, and coconut curry. They were plump and juicy. The yellow curry sauce was thick and flavourful. There was also plenty of ginger and curry flavour. It worked well with the mussels.

For my main, I had the Craft T.L.T. Sandwich featuring seared tuna, pea shoots, avocado, lettuce, onion, tomato, cucumber, and togarashi aioli on toasted focaccia. This was one of freshest tasting sandwiches that I’ve had. All the veggies were crisp and bright, and the tuna was perfectly seared. Unfortunately the focaccia bread was soaking in grease. If they’d ease up on the oil, this would be a fantastic sandwich.

I was a big fan of the fries, which were super crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside, and perfectly seasoned. The side of chipotle mayo was the perfect sweet and spicy accompaniment.

We also had Gaucho Chicken Flatbread with chicken, roasted jalapenos, pico de gallo, and chipotle aioli. I thought it was a chicken margherita pizza because of the tomato sauce, which was tart and sweet with plenty of garlic flavour. The chicken was surprisingly moist.

We also went for the Brewmaster’s Chicken Sandwich featuring chicken breast, avocado, bacon, aged cheddar, tomato, lettuce, and red onion on grilled ciabatta. The chicken breast was moist. The avocado gave the sandwich creaminess and a bit of spice. The other veggies were all fresh, and paired well with the ciabatta. Our only complaint was of the shape of the bun as it didn’t easily hold all the ingredients.

We enjoyed our lunch date at Craft Beer Market. The food was decent enough, and since we went in the middle of the day when it wasn’t that busy, service was pretty good.
