Winners of the 2017 Diners’ Choice Awards were announced. In 22 categories, 38,214 votes were cast, breaking last year’s record by 12 per cent. Twenty-one winners were chosen by diners who make speaking up for their favourite dishes and restaurants on the Diners’ Choice Awards.

The public was encouraged to explore recommendations on the nomination list. In 2017, the voting platform was extended to WeChat, a popular social-media app, in exclusive cooperation with Van-Food Delivery (Dawenfantuan), Vancouver’s top take-out food delivery service in Chinese. The community of Chinese food lovers put together a new comprehensive diners’ guide that highlights the best regional Chinese and Taiwanese cuisine in Metro Vancouver.

Best Sichuan Dan Dan Noodles: Long's Noodle House on Main Street

Best Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken: Memory Corner in Richmond

Best Durian Glutinous Rice Dumpling: Kirin Restaurants

Best New Restaurant: CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice in Vancouver

Chang'an in downtown Vancouver won both Best Fine Dining and Best Northern Chinese Restaurant's titles.

Best Takeout Restaurant: Alvin Garden in Burnaby

Best Services Restaurant: The Jade Seafood Restaurant in Richmond

Best Dim Sum Restaurant: Su Sui Wah Seafood Restaurant in Vancouver

Best Vegetarian Restaurant: Sun Bo Kong Vegetarian Restaurant

Best Cantonese Restaurant: Top Gun J & C Restaurant in Richmond

Best Shanghainese Restaurant: Shanghai River Restaurant in Richmond
