New web series showcases international cuisine

Actor, model and dancer Arshdeep Purba introduces Riley Murdock to Indian street food at Apna Cheat House and Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara in the first web series food and travel show called Secret Informant.

Former tech YouTuber Riley Murdock is the show’s host. Currently filming in Vancouver, Murdock will taste unique traditional dishes by a cultural guide, known as that episode’s “secret informant.” Some cuisines to be featured include India, Mexico, Thailand and Syria.

“Helping people to empathize with others from different groups is something that’s important to me,” says Murdock.

Andy Mo, series producer, got the idea during his world travels.

“Travel is one of the most direct ways to experience other cultures, but not everyone has the time, money or knowledge to make that happen,” says Mo.

On Jan. 6, the show raised $15,000 on Kickstarter, which the team says they will use to complete production, post-production and preparation for Season 2. Filming will resume in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau in March. The first episode is on YouTube. Episodes are released weekly.
