Miss Chinese Vancouver Pageant celebrates three decades

This year’s Miss Chinese Vancouver Pageant marks 30 years of celebrating women while building community unity and bridging cultural exchange. This year’s theme is “Shining Brillance, Dreams Come True.” Phil Lam, a BC-born singer-songwriter, will be the Special Guest Performer. He will bring a brilliant shine to the stage with his performance. The Grand Final will be held on November 28 at the River Rock Show Theatre. It will air on FTV1 on December 1 at 9 p.m.

Contestants include:

1.Shania Fu, who loves singing and dancing.

2.Claudia Lam, who hopes to discover her inner beauty and push her boundaries.

3.Jennifer Huang, who dreams of gracing the stage.

4.Marina Yu, who excels at business, science and art.

5.Olivia Zou, who is skilled in Chinese dance and holds degrees in Economics and Psychology.

6.Hilary Chen, who is an entreprenuer who wants to pursue acting.

7.Justine Ming, who is an artist at heart.

8.Jasper Tiffany Chan, who is a performer who displayed her talent in the Sunshine Nation competition.

This year’s awards include the Champion, First Runner-Up and Second Runner-Up titles include:

•The “Beauty Court Glowing Attraction Award”,

•“Lukfook Jewellery Miss Photogenic”,

•“Brian Jessel BMW Outstanding Intelligence Award”,

•“Imperial Bird’s Nest AI Infinite Radiance Award” and

•“Royal Jubilee Cordial Beauty Award”.

The “Lukfook Jewellery Photo Contest” will be held on November 2 at Aberdeen Centre. The winner receives an $800 prize and a chance to have their photos publicly displayed. People from all the world can now vote for the “Lukfook Miss Photogenic” on MCVP website until November 24. Voters have a chance to win an 18K gold diamond bracelet from Lukfook Jewellery. Between November 15 and 28, the audience can also visit the MCVP website to choose their favourite contestant in the “Beauty Court Who is the Champion Guessing Game”.

This year’s panel of judges includes:

•Retired Soprano, Ms. Jessica Yan Macintosh,

•Richmond Hospital Infectious Disease Consultant Physician and UBC Clinical Assistant Professor Dr. Clement Kwok

•Miss Chinese Vancouver 2015 and Miss Chinese International 2016 Champion Ms. Jennifer Coosemans

•Renowned Composer Dr. Steve Ho, and

•Pilates & fitness instructor Ms. Min-Hui You (Ann).
