Brentwood Hillside tower condo residents will be the first to use the world’s largest fully equipped quick charge EV parkade. Concord Pacific Developments recently completed its underground EV parkade that has 1,974 parking spaces.
The parking spaces are located in two separate cores under the towers (1039 charging spots under the West tower, and 935 in the East). The parkade cores are within walking distance of the Brentwood SkyTrain station and a future bicycle network path.
The supporting electrical infrastructure system can supply all power access points at once. Each plug-in at the Hillside West and East is individually monitored and each subscribing residence will be billed according to their power usage. They receive a bill from a third party that manages the billing.
Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley says the new EV parkade aligns with the city’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality among residents and businesses.
“Making it easier for folks to drive electric vehicles, ride their bike or take transit will help us cut down on carbon emissions and achieve our climate goals faster,” said Hurley.
Grace Quan, a resident who is also President of the Hillside East Strata Council says having guaranteed quick charging available is an important feature for her, which impacted her decision to buy at Concord Brentwood.
“Knowing that this development supports EV owners, I had no hesitation in buying here as the value of the EV charging will carry well into the future,” Quan said.
Terry Hui, CEO of Concord Pacific Group and Concord Green Energy, says the company’s portfolio of wind, solar, and hydro projects has grown significantly over the past 15 years, which has now expanded to five provinces.
“Creating infrastructure like this helps close the loop on sustainable transportation options,” said Hui.
