Bryan Adams reaches out to Asia with Bollywood queen

Vancouver rocker Bryan Adams will be headlining an international night of celebrities in Qatar this month to raise money for numerous relief efforts in Asia.

The guest-list, comprising international celebrities from sport, show business and politics, includes Bollywood icons Aishwarya Rai and Shah Rukh Khan.


The master of ceremonies, CNN presenter Richard Quest, will welcome celebrity guests from around the world, including Hong Kong‘s action star Jet Li, cycling legend Eddy Merckx and Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of Qatar.


The November 16 event at the Ritz Carlton hotel in the Qatari capital of Doha will also include a live charity auction conducted by Sotheby‘s.The Reach Out To Asia fund-raising program targets the underprivileged across Asia, especially those ravaged by last year‘s tsunami and the recent earthquake in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and India.


The event has been put together under the auspices of Her Highness Sheikha Mayassa, daughter of the Emir of Qatar. Adams has been inducted into Canada‘s Walk of Fame, and in 1990, he was made a Member of the Order of Canada and the Order of British Columbia. In 1998 he was promoted to an Officer of the Order of Canada. His first album was released in 1980, and his first smash hits came in 1983 with songs like ‘Cuts Like a Knife‘, and ‘The Best Was Yet To Come‘.


His international breakthrough album was Reckless (1984) which included now-rock classics

On January 29, 2005, the singer joined many of Canada‘s prominent stars in a benefit concert from Vancouver for the victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake, and also performed at Live 8‘s Canadian performance in Barrie, Ontario.


Rai, the green-blue-eyed beauty former Miss World has stormed into the Indian movie industry and is Bollywood‘s hottest property. She is one of the wealthiest women in India, and Time magazine has also named her one of the 100 most influential people on the planet.
