Valentine’s Day is a celebration of love and lovers.

In Vancouver, a very special Valentine’s Day celebration will be held at The Vancouver Public Library with a free concert of impresario and pianist Karen Lee-Morlang, along with talented local musicians, students and alumni as they perform a selection of love songs suited for the special occasion.

Karen is particularly well-known in Vancouver the community for her collaborative skills at the piano and for championing music for new audiences. Local and international recognition have enabled her to travel to Europe, Asia and within North America to study with renowned artists.

Karen earned her second degree at the University of British Columbia, specializing in the collaborative arts under the mentorship of Rena Sharon and Leslie Uyeda at UBC’s School of Music, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music in 1998.

With her passion for reaching new audiences, Karen often organises chamber music and art song recitals around the Lower Mainland.

She has formerly directed various recital series at the Vancouver Art Gallery, the UBC Main Library and the University Women’s Club and recently completed a three-year project with the UBC Learning Exchange in the Downtown Eastside coordinating the Music Appreciation 101 course.

Karen’s extensive experience and varied interests make her an excellent choice for all sorts of musical work. In addition to performing at over 400 events, she produces various concert series, teaches and coaches privately and at the UBC School of Music, and has often taken on administrative and artistic directing responsibilities.

Due to her numerous contacts in the Vancouver music community, Karen has also developed a reputation as a “go-to-girl” when looking for musicians with specific skills or experience.
