He wanted to help his family so bad when his dad stopped working due to his condition. All the money that he had won in singing competitions was given to his parents to help them pay their financial needs.

His shyness in singing in front of crowds lessens when he started singing publicly during his high school years. He joined the band called Voizemale which various gigs in Cagayan De Oro in southern Philippine and sung mostly the popular hits of Earth, Wind, & Fire and Backstreet Boys.

Close friends of Mark persuaded him to audition a singing contest of ABS-CBN's MTB. Unfortunately, that wasn't his calling to stardom. After that, he continued to sing and improve his craft and his skills in singing in which he excels the most.

He became the finalist of Philippine reality show Star For A Night and eventually placed second behind singing diva Sarah Geronimo.

From then on, Mark is not only one of the hottest singing sensations but he is also becoming an in demand multimedia star. He became a mainstay of popular television musical show ASAP, hosted the top singing competition Search For The Star In A Million (season 1 and season 2) with his fellow champions. He has endorsements, concerts, TV shows, and movies.
