Best Part of your Career: I like the flexibility and the variety that my career offers. I am able to work with various people such as fashion artists, actors/actresses and students.
Inspiration: I studied art and music at Trinity Western University in Langley BC. Art was always my passion. This, combined with my love of fashion inspired me to pursue a career in makeup artistry. After University I chose to go to school again.
Challenges: The challenging parts of this job can be staying alert and motivated while working long hours for film productions and fashion shows.
Differences: The differences between the work & school environment is like night and day. At school there is homework, deadlines, and exams, which follow a strict schedule set by someone else in charge. As a freelance makeup artist, I don’t have a rigid or set schedule that is set up by someone else.
EDUCATION
School & Degree(s): 10 month Diploma from John Casablanca, BA in Fine Arts Trinity Western University in Langley BC, John Casablanca.
Advice: For students who just graduated I would suggest them to go out and find work. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t find the job you want, just keep on trying and build-up a social network.
Program Benefits: Personally the program helped me build-up confidence in my work. Professionally, it taught me how to interact in the industry and grow as a person.
LIFESTYLE
Favorite activity: Playing the piano, painting, figure skating
Upcoming Vacation plans: This Thursday March 29th, I’m going to Europe to travel for a month.
In five years, I see myself: Personally, start a family. Professionally, to continuing teaching and be a trainer for make-up and broaden my horizon by enhancing what I already know.
