Malaspina University-College’s Multicultural Week is an exciting week-long cultural and educational event which is being held during the spring semester of 2006 at Malaspina University-College. At this event, students get together and create an amazing socio-cultural event celebrating diverse ethnic cultures and distinctive customs from over 50 cultural groups represented by 800 international students and 10,000 Canadian students. Past Multicultural Weeks around campus have included a great number of events such as cultural presentations, cultural table displays, performances, parades, and international cuisine.
Malaspina’s Multicultural Week is for everyone; students, faculty, staff and the community of Nanaimo, who are interested in meeting international students who play the role as cultural ambassadors in our community and learning about their countries and customs. The participants in this event are always impressed by the energy, enthusiasm, creativity and hard work the international and Canadian students put into this Multicultural Week. It is everyone’s effort that makes Multicultural Week a successful annual event at Malaspina. The Multicultural Week event receives support from its dedicated student volunteers, the staff and faculty at Malaspina, and the Centre for International Education.
