Watching TV while eating is bad

Children who watch television while eating their meals are likely to suffer from eating disorders, a new study by American researchers has found.

Earlier studies had shown that children who watch television more often could face several health problems such as loss of sleep, poor academic performance and symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

In the new study, researchers at the University of Minnesota found that children who watch television while eating could suffer from eating disorders.

They may also have a lower quality of diet as compared to children of families that ate together and turned the television off, reported the portal Science Daily.

Children who watch television while eating meals are likely to consume fewer vegetables and grains. Such children may consume more soft drinks and fried foods than those who did not watch television, the researchers said.
