Ethnic Indian David Arumugam, the lead vocalist of Malaysian pop group Alleycats, is now a Datuk, the Malaysian equivalent of a British knight. The award was conferred by the Sultan of Pahang state. The honour comes a few months after Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan became the first foreign actor to be conferred Datukship by the Sultan of Malacca. Arumugam, 59, whose real name is Thiagarajan K.R.
