Monica Song crowned Little Sunshine 2011

Fairchild Radio hosted its 2nd annual Little Sunshine contest at Burnaby’s Crystal Mall on Saturday July 9th.
The competition is a talent search for kids between 4 and 10 years old who can perform in Chinese on stage, on radio and on TV.
This year’s finalists, 4 boys and 4 girls beat hundreds of hopefuls to make it to the final.
The winners were:
Champion - Monica Song (age 9)
Best Talent Award - Russell Yuen (age 10), talent Taekwondo
Best Poses Award - Enver Chan (age 6)
Like Me Award (a congeniality award) - Karsten Lee (age 7)
After the opening dance, 7 years old Charine Cheung, Champion of last year’s Little Sunshine contest, acted as a guest MC and introduced the finalists on stage.
Then one by one, the 8 Little Sunshine contestants introduced themselves.
A highlight of the contest was the Q&A session when the judges challenged the 8 finalists by asking questions related to family, friends, hobbies and pets.
Best Poses Award winner Enver gave the most memorable answer of the event, “I have 20 girlfriends, but I can only remember two of their names…”.
The winner Monica Song received two round-trip tickets to Asia. She will also perform in the Sunshine Nation 2011 to be held on August 26, 2011 at the Michael J. Fox Theatre.
