The bird days of summer

Vancouver Aquarium is hosting a special series this summer on birds of prey called “Birds Up Close”.
This outdoor show features charismatic and peculiar birds including the bald eagle, Harris’s hawk, peregrine falcon, turkey vulture and gyrfalcon – each with their own impressive abilities.
For example, take the Peregrine Falcon, the world’s fastest bird. From a ceiling of 10,000 feet (3,000 metres), it will swoop downward at 190km/h, but then it will point straight downward, tuck its head and reach 320km/h.
The show, which runs from June 4 to September 5, is a collaboration between the Vancouver Aquarium and Pacific Northwest Raptors.
