Born and raised in a town known for its lush “Lakhi Jungle”, Mrs. Amrita Bhatia moved to Canada in 2002 after her husband sponsored her. The excitement of visiting “Chetak Park” as a child is still fresh in her memory and she seeks that comfort every time she visits her hometown. She fondly looks back at her first experience of flying to Canada and the anticipation of an unfamiliar world that she had read about in geography books in school. Being familiar with working in a salon in India, she decided to open her own salon, Nancy Beauty Parlour, in Surrey in 2009. Her professional experience has been fulfilling as it allows her to be flexible and is not too demanding. In her free time she loves to cook for her family and watch Hindi movies with her children. “I miss my hometown a lot but Canada has given me a better life and a hope for a better future for my children and this is priceless for me,” says Mrs Amrita Bhatia.
