The Lakshmi Narayan mandir on 140th Street in Surrey will be hosting a Mahashivratri Utsav on Monday, February 20th.
The function starts at 6AM and runs through to midnight.
There will be a pooja and upasana, as well as live bhajan kirtan and free food stalls for everyone to enjoy. The mandir will also be featuring a seven-foot tall Shiv lingham made of ice.
Mahashivratri is a very auspicious time for worshipping Lord Shiva as it is said to absolve a devotee of past sins. It is especially significant for women as both married and unmarried females observe fasts and perform Shiva Puja to appease the Goddess Parvati. These liturgical practices result in blessings of marital bliss and long and prosperous married life from the goddess.
All members of the public are welcome to attend and observe this function.
