No fishing gear? No problem!
The Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC’s Rod Loan Program is lending Rapala spinning rods, reels, and tackle boxes by the day or week at various locations around British Columbia – for free! It’s all possible thanks to generous assistance from Rapala Canada and the Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation.
“So many people want to try their hand at fishing,” says program coordinator Tanya Laird, “but lack of equipment gets in the way. Our program makes fishing easy and affordable for everyone.”
Starting in June, Rod Loan Program staff will be lending fishing gear at these Lower Mainland venues:
• Rice Lake, in North Vancouver’s Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve, from noon to 4 p.m. every Sunday
• Sanctuary Pond, in Vancouver’s Hastings Park, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Wednesday
• Green Timbers Lake in Surrey (for their schedule, contact the Surrey Nature Centre at 604-502-6065, or e-mail
naturecentre@surrey.ca).
