‘Temple Street Prince’ celebrates 80th birthday at Fairchild’s Mid-Autumn Celebration Dinner

To mark his milestone birthday, renowned artist Wan Kwong (aka “Kwong B”) took centre stage at the Fairchild Mid-Autumn Celebration Dinner 2024 where he performed his newest song “80 and counting”. This event, held in Vancouver, was the first of three planned celebration dinners.

Emcees Mandy Chan and Brian Chiu set the stage singing nostalgic tunes, like the classic hits “Dancing Girl” and “Butter Egg Tart”. Audience members clapped along with Kwong’s past hit songs including   “Big Square & Temple Street”, “Feet Shaking”, “Snow white and Seven Dwarf”, “Fourteen Seats”, “Lion Rock”, “Hollywood”, “Mad Questions”, “Others’ Songs”, “Fortune Teller”, “Mom’s Big Sale”, and concluded with an encore of “Dear Myself”. Some members who participated in traditional activities, such as “Lantern Riddles”, were lucky enough to win prizes.

Kwong handed out signed photos to fans as he hinted a possible Canada concert tour in the next year.

Todd Ye, the Vice President and Assistant General Manager of Fairchild Television & Talentvision (Western Division) joined Wan Kwong to sing a duet called “In the Rain”. Fairchild TV host William Ho also joined Wan Kwong in an impromptu performance of their favorite Cantonese opera piece “Young and Fit”. Mr. Joe Chan, Vice Chair of Fairchild Media Group, joined Ye, Ho and Kwong for a group photo.

After the show, Kwong signed records and photos for his fans. Kwong’s next tour stop was in Calgary, which is the second city of the Mid-Autumn festivities celebrations. The third city is in Toronto.
