The 2008 Fair at the Pacific National Exhibition (Aug. 16 to Sept. 1) has an exciting concert line-up this year including Billy Ray Cyrus, The Bacon Brothers, Vanessa Hudgens, Air Supply, Tower of Power and Spirit of the West. Classic Fair favourites like the Iams Superdogs, the PNE Prize Home, the Marketplace, the Pig Races and tasty fair food are all back for another great year. Sound like fun? The PNE is looking to hire enthusiastic workers for over 1,200 fair time and seasonal jobs. On-line applications have been coming in from across Metro Vancouver and qualified individuals have been invited to an innovative first interview program with sessions scheduled this Friday and Saturday. Designed to identify outgoing, enthusiastic team players, the interview will consist of dividing the applicants into teams of 10. The teams will be given a series of interactive games, puzzles and challenges to complete within an allotted time period. Expert facilitators will observe the teams and make hiring recommendations. The PNE is the largest employer of youth in the province, providing valuable first job experience for tens of thousands of British Columbians. Many of the corporation’s full-time staff began as fair time and seasonal employees. In all, the PNE directly employs over 3,500 people. Interested applicants need to apply on-line at www.pne.ca prior to Friday to book interview appointments. This is only the first round of hiring for the 2008 Fair.
