*What got you interested in what you are doing now in the first place? (inspiration)
I worked at a four diamond hotel as a bartender and networked with business professionals during the late 90’s and early 00’s. I was fascinated with their professions and became motivated to change my life. I had this simple principle “I wanted to become a professional myself and being pampered rather than the one who worked odd hours and poured drinks for them (business people). CMA training gave me solid technical confidence and a background as a broadbased professional. Given the dynamics of the workplace, CMAs are high in demand and employers recognize CMAs add value to their operations (think creatively and shape strategy). It’s an employee’s market right now and I believe the potentials for CMAs to secure leadership roles have never been greater.
*The most difficult incident you have dealt with so far in your work? Challenges.
More often than not, Information is not readily available/accessible, as a financial analyst– one has to develop exceptional data mining and financial modeling skills to manipulate raw data and turn it into useful information for different level of management (audience) in a timely manner.
*How is it different from other jobs that you previously had?

I advise CMA students to network with professional recruiters and find a CMA mentor. Professional recruiters receive thousands of resumes and interview hundreds of potential candidates per year. You are competing against lots of job applicants and you need to be proactive and persistent.
*How did the program benefit you? (personal/professional)
I have had worked in Hospitality, engineering, consulting, financial services, and healthcare industries. CMA provides broadbased training and the skill set I acquired from the strategic leadership program is transferable to all industries. Personally and professionally: CMA designation = “more” and “better” opportunities.
