The year long celebration of Rabindranath Tagore’s 150th birthday continue into September with a night of music, poetry, dance and discussion.
World Poetry Richmond, Vancouver Tagore Society and the City of Richmond are hosting an event on Saturday September 10th. Admission is free.
Featured guests for the event include Dr. Stephen Gill (Cornwall, Ontario), Ashok Bhargava (Vancouver) and Dr. Jianhua Zhang (University of Alabama Birmingham).
Lee Tan will present a biography on Tagore, arguably the greatest poet from the Indian state of Bengal.
There will also be four lectures presented:
- Tagore and Universalism by Lee Tan
- Tagore and Rural Reconstruction by Santanu Mitra
- Tagore and Emancipation of Women by Leena Chatterjee
- Tagore and the Crisis of Civilization Today by Ananda Lee Tan
