Profile: Rina Gill

 

Marketing and Advertising specialist

Rina Gill’s passion for advertising started at a very
young age. Growing up watching South Asian variety
shows on television reinforced for her how ethnic
communities need to have the same level of great
creative thinking that the mainstream campaigns
always contain. A founding member of the
Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce Vancouver
Business Council and volunteers her time as ICCC
National Director for B.C. Operations.


Education: This interest led Rina to enroll in the Marketing Communications/Advertising joint program at York University and Seneca College in Toronto. She completed her Honours BA degree and Creative Advertising diploma.


Challenges: She worked in the Creative department and assisted with accounts like the Ministry of Ontario, Bacardi, Cadillac Fairview, Canadian Breast Cancer and participated in numerous account pitches.


Other interest: In her personal time, Rina enjoyed the world of Fashion and worked towards obtaining a Fashion Design certificate. This resulted in a part-time fusion clothing line business in the South Asian community that combined Eastern and Western trends.

Career path: Rina entered the prestigious Government of Ontario Entrepreneurship program where she received a grant to start her own Marketing agency called The Hype Advertising Agency.


Future direction: After she moves from Toronto to Vancouver, Rina stumbled on an interesting opportunity in the corporate world. She joined TELUS as a Marketing Specialist focusing on the South Asian Segment Nationally. A combination of charm, ambition, strong work ethic and youthful, positive attitude are the key attributes that have allowed Rina to become the successful business woman she is today.
