Canada has a new teen queen but her reign won‘t just be about beauty and glamour.

Kelsey Nichols of Surrey was crowned Miss Canada Teen Global of 2006, emerging on top of a pool of 32 delegates in the pageant held at the Bell Performing Arts Centre in Surrey last Nov. 20.

As Miss Canada Teen Global, Nichols will be working with Variety-The Children‘s Charity to raise awareness and funds for children.

“I love children. I love working for children,“ Nichols gushed after her coronation.

Asked what she has learned in the pageant, she said; “I learned to be more confident in myself.”

Nichols will represent Canada in the Miss Teen United Nations contest to be held in Las Vegas next year.

Nichols replaces Ami Sampat who reigned as Miss Canada Teen Global of 2005.

Sampat is the first Indo-Canadian to win in this competition.

She said that the pageant has given her an opportunity to flourish in an exciting environment and contributed to her maturation process.
