Careers in Settlements & Trade: Roy Quinones

CAREER:
Age: 26
Occupation:
Settlements Analyst
Company:
Powerex Corporation
Length at position:
I have been with Powerex for 2 and a half years.
Hours worked per week: 40 hours per week, on average
Salary range: $40,000.
Potential: $50,000.
Best part of job:
The  good thing about my work is the flexible schedule that I have from Mondays to Fridays. I have to say that it is very accommodating to my needs that I can create a perfect balance for both my work life & my personal life.
Apart from that, there is also fun in understanding the transactional charges and changes in the market of energy trading across the whole of America.

EDUCATION:
Degree(s):
Bachelor of Arts in Economics (BA) at SFU, Fast-Track at Langara college, which is also part of the CMA. This program allows you to meet the requirements before the entrance exam.
School:
I am an SFU graduate in 2003.
Advice:
As much as I believe in the importance of education, experience, both in life and in work, is just as valuable too.
The SFU Co-op program builds some skills for you to use in real life.
If you practice on what you have learned then, you will become more marketable and valuable as an employee.

LIFESTYLE:
Favourite recreational activity:
I enjoy activities like bowling and basketball.

Upcoming vacation plans:
I just got back from a camping trip in Manning.

In five years, I see myself :
Professionally advancing my career as a settlements analyst.
I also look forward to doing more managerial roles in that line of work. With the help of CMA, that should not be a problem.
At the end of the day, however, nothing beats being an old-fashioned homeowner. I hope to get my own place someday in the suburbs.
