Advice from under 30 entrepreneurs

Every entrepreneur has advice to share, even those as young as 26.
Amit Sandhu of Ampri Group and Rattan Bagga of World Natural Foods and Jiva Organics were recently recognised as Canada’s top 20 young entrepreneurs under 30 for their achievements. They both won a National Future Entrepreneurial Leader (FuEL) Award.
Here’s their insight into how to achieve success as young entrepreneurs.

Biggest Lesson

Building a successful business is an adventure. The experience is akin to a rollercoaster where intellect, creativity, ego, and emotions ebb and flow. Being highly organized and efficient with your time is important since it helps with being adaptable and ready for any challenge.

Be Passionate

Before starting a business, look inwards. Find your passion and work towards building something from that passion. Let’s face it you will be dedicating a lot of time and attention to your business so you need to enjoy your field.

Team Selection

Create a flexible core team, especially during the start-up phase. Before starting the hiring phase, create a list of values that you want incorporated into your business, which also acts as the basis of your corporate culture. Ensure that each team member brings complimentary skills and shares your passion
to contribute something of value.

Speak Up

Age is just a number. You will be surprised how receptive seasoned entrepreneurs are to newbies. Embrace your youth, share your fresh ideas, and you will notice others will encourage you to think outside the box.
