A dreamer who seeks to inspire others

The idea of holding a woman’s conference came to Mandi Sellers not from a strategy session, but from a dream.
The CEO of Com-Tech Learning Solutions in Vancouver couldn’t get the vision out of her head.
“I had a dream where a group of confident, positive, happy women seemed to have the answers to finding personal fulfillment,” explains the Indian-born Sellers.
“When I woke up, I realized that not only did I want to evolve myself to be like those women but I wanted to help other women do the same.”
Her inaugural women’s conference called Glow: A Women’s Evening of Change and Celebration, has been set for June 1, 2012, at the Executive Inn Hotel, in Coquitlam.
She put a call out to her friends and associates to seek other women who wanted to get involved.
“I was amazed by the response. I thought that I have obviously hit a real need among women,” says the mother of two girls. “There are so many women out there — both Canadian-born and immigrants — who are looking for more out of their lives.”
Like many 2nd generation immigrant children, Sellers has struggled with the expectations of two cultures — one Western, one Eastern — to develop her own identity.
More than simply a seminar, tradeshow or party, Glow is an exciting combination of all three, bringing together women who are seeking positive inspiration to change and improve their lives, while connecting with other women and having fun.
Glow will welcome all participants with the red carpet treatment, complete with an on-site “paparazzi-style” photographer and more.
The event’s tradeshow floor will offer a mix of exhibitor tables, along with a silent auction and seminar series on topics that include personal growth, love and sex, health and body image.
Well-known experts Dr. Ali Zentner, motivational author Ted Kuntz and love coach Kim Amani will present 30-minute, engaging sessions intended to inspire and empower attendees.
There will also be a martini bar, complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a deejay who will open up the dance floor.
The night will end with a complimentary swag bag for each attendee.
Most importantly, Glow is a charitable initiative, with proceeds going to the BC Cancer Agency, focusing on cancers that affect women, and Tri-City Transitions, a charitable organization providing help to women and families who have been impacted by violence and abuse.
