Restaurant Review: Kongee Dinesty

During the recent June heat wave in Vancouver, we went to Kongee Dinesty. We opted for the Preserved Egg and Salted Pork Congee with cilantro, peanuts, mustard greens and ginger in a seasoned broth base. It was silky and thick while it had some textures. We got 5 dishes including Milhouse's favourite, Sweet & Sour Pork. The flavours were balanced. The only thing I'd change with this dish was the thickness of the batter (could've been thinner).
The Honey Garlic Spareribs was another well-executed offering. This dish can be pretty sweet and over-sauced, but there was just enough. It wasn't overly sweet; the garlic really came through.  Boss Woman insisted on the Scrambled Eggs and Prawns which turned out to be a fantastic choice. It had large butterflied prawns and silky eggs just cooked.  The dish was well-seasoned.
My choice was the Satay Beef with Vermicelli Hot Pot because why not eat something sizzling in hot temperatures right? This was deceptively large in portion size. I found the vermicelli to be on point in texture.  Furthermore, the red chilis helped amp up the spiciness of the dish. The beef slices were tenderized properly. Our last dish was the Beef Tenderloin with Black Pepper Sauce.  Presented with large slices of beef, this dish was also deceptively filling. I liked the natural meat texture while at the same time being super soft.  I found the sauce to be peppery, but could've been more so. Overall, we enjoyed our meal at Kongee and felt the prices were in-line with the quality.
